Statement on stabbing in Bournemouth
A BRIGHTER FUTURE FOR BOURNEMOUTH
Bournemouth is a great place, but the vibrant town of my youth has been let down by more than a decade of neglect by successive Conservative governments.
It now faces three converging tidal waves: the cost of living crisis, the climate crisis and a crisis in our public services. I have seen the decline of our high streets and town centre. Energy bills and food costs are up. NHS waiting times are at record highs, and people like my grandparents have struggled to access quality local social care. Sewage is being pumped into our rivers and seas at an alarming rate. And crime is on the rise.
The next election could not be more important. After 13 years in power, the Conservatives have crashed our economy, run our public services into the ground and lost people’s trust.
I believe that together we can win a Labour MP in Bournemouth West for the first time ever - and work to make sure Bournemouth fulfils its potential. I want to see a Bournemouth that builds on its reputation for innovation and creativity, that protects its environment and ensures it is the best possible place to live, work and visit.
Together we can build a brighter future for Bournemouth.
