Bournemouth West MP Jessica Toale is bringing together partners this month and next for a series of housing ‘super surgeries’ across the area to support renters, homeowners and rough sleepers.
Following countless conversations with residents with a range of housing issues – from poor quality rentals and extortionate land management fees to families facing homelessness or not able to get on the housing ladder, Jessica is stepping up to help.
The surgeries, the first of which takes place this week, are separate to - and on top of - the new MP’s regular surgeries which support residents with a range of issues including SEND, anti-social behaviour and the other concerns.
Jessica and her team have partnered with other local agencies for these events, including Citizens Advice, Shelter, St Mungo’s, Dorset Police and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
Jessica said: “In recent months, I have been deeply concerned by the growing number of residents raising issues related to housing, ranging from poor-quality accommodation, people in temporary housing, neighbourhood anti-social behaviour, and homelessness. To address these challenges, I will be hosting three ‘housing super surgeries,’ aimed at providing constituents with the opportunity to share their specific concerns and receive advice and guidance from local organisations who specialise in these issues.”
2025 housing surgery dates and locations:
Friday 17 January at the Henry Brown Centre in West Howe
Friday 31 January at Bourne Community Hub in Alderney
Friday 14 February at Winton Royal British Legion
A bigger ‘town hall’ style event will take place on Saturday 1 March 2025 in a venue near Cemetery Junction, where constituents can raise broader concerns and learn about the government’s priorities as they relate to Bournemouth West.
