Labour visit to Bournemouth Uni

Labour's Shadow Higher Education Minister Matt Western visited Bournemouth University's Media & Communications department with Jessica and Bournemouth East candidate Tom Hayes.

During the visit the group learned about the University's creative technologies courses and visited the music and broadcast studios. They also learned about the cutting edge research on a range of subjects from identifying mass graves to computing health data that the university conducts.

The visit concluded with a short interview conducted by the University's journalism students during which they asked about Labour's plans for higher education funding, international students and the role of the university in the town.

Labour is committed to maintaining the UK's higher education excellence whilst also making higher education more affordable for students - this will include looking at maintenance loans.

More broadly, Labour has committed to investing in further education and lifelong learning as well as reforming the apprenticeship levy to make it more accessible to a wider range of people and skills training.
